After an absence of several weeks.........a new photo at last : I recently visited Margam Park which is near Port Talbot in South Wales. Here, I was lucky enough to track down the deer herd an take some photographs - a change from the seascapes, eh?

This is a fabulous shot, Michael! You've captured the alertness of the animals and I can just imagine they took off after this.

AMazing coincidence, except you were looking for these. We saw some on Sunday by pure chance, that's what Roz mentioned. My pictures are nothing like this though, this is truly magnificent

I didn't think I would see them this time either but caught a lucky glimpse of a pair of antlers and stalked a small group of 2 stags and 2 does until I spotted the main herd which I was able to creep up on to get closer. Great image - I love the simplicity of the composition and the colours. The silhouetted deer are almost like a frieze.

Michael Bryant-Plenty: Hi Ingrid, I spent most of the time I was trying to photograph the deer wishing I had a more powerful zoom lens (they are so nervous). Still, I did enjoy seeing the deer and my little trip would have been worthwhile even if I hadn't managed to take any photos. Mike

I looked at this in the morning before school and wondered how you captured all of them in such a beautiful stance. Now I realize they look as if they are ready to be on the move. A rare and lovely capture indeed.
